Course number : LC104
« back to classes page

What is the reason that an artist, virtually unknown until the last years of his life, an artist who only sold one painting during his lifetime, becomes a legend, and one of the most studied artists of the 19th century? We will look at Van Gogh’s life story and try to understand what contributed to his achieving the status of myth. We will analyze his artistic output and discuss his legacy and importance for post-Impressionist art currents that followed and were inspired by him.
