In the late 1990s and into the early 2000s, a number of high-quality television dramas delighted audiences and TV critics who coined the term, “The 2nd Golden Age of Television.” These shows all were serialized, with complex characters and multiple storylines. The stars of the show were the writers who created them and became their showrunners. Episodes from eight different series will be screened along with a discussion of the show and its creative impact. The course will include: “The Sopranos,” “Lost,” “24,” “Mad Men,” “Friday Night Lights,” “The Wire,” “Breaking Bad,” and “The Shield.”

Students will need to have the following in order to participate in this class:

  • Laptop or Desktop Computer with both audio and video capabilities or external webcam and speaker

  • Access to Zoom Video platform
