A Beginner's Guide to Genealogy (OLLI_Online)

Many people have heard stories about their ancestors' arrival in America with almost no money in their pockets. Beginning with the U.S. Census, this course will help you document your family's history with an emphasis on immigration, naturalization, and land records. We will also explore the basic skills needed to conduct research abroad. The instructor offers to meet with each student for one hour outside of class to discuss individual families.


Students will need to have the following in order to participate in this class:
  • Laptop or Desktop Computer with both audio and video capabilities or external webcam and speaker

  • Access to Zoom Video platform
