A survey of Beat Era writers, what they shared, and how they differed will be the focus of this course. We will read Jack Kerouac's On the Road, Allen Ginsberg's Howl, and selected poems from Lawrence Ferlinghetti, Gary Snyder, Diane DiPrima, Robert Duncan, and Robert Creeley. We will discuss the times that produced these writers and their legacies from the 1960s to now.
Students will need to have the following in order to participate in this class:
  • Laptop or Desktop Computer with both audio and video capabilities or external webcam and speaker
  • Access to Zoom Video platform
