The advent of Be-bop in the 1940s was more of a revolution than evolution in jazz. “Bop” was the foundation for all so-called modern jazz. We will trace the change from swing to bop and then its evolution into cool and hard bop of the 1950s, through recordings and videos of the jazz masters of the mid-century. No previous preparation required.

Students will need to have the following in order to participate in this class:

  • Laptop or Desktop Computer with both audio and video capabilities or external webcam and speaker

  • Access to Zoom Video platform
