In this course, we will learn what constitutes evidence in medicine and science, and discuss what can be done, if anything, to improve our longevity and quality of life. Our focus will be on major diseases and killers such as hypertension, diabetes, heart disease, cancer, and dementia. A full session will focus on geriatrics. Our discussions will explore the roles of nutrition, lifestyle, and “alternative medicine” in staying healthy. An energetic attempt will be made to debunk commonly held myths. There is no required reading. Questions will be actively encouraged.

Students will need to have the following in order to participate in this class:
  • Laptop or Desktop Computer
  • Access to Zoom Video platform
  • Webcam
