James Joyce's Ulysses

Course number : LI112
« back to classes page
T.S. Eliot and Ezra Pound praised it; censors tried to suppress it. When Ulysses ?nally appeared in 1922, the landscape of modern literature was permanently altered. Ulysses helped de?ne modern literature and remains one of its greatest exemplars. And there it stands, like Mt. Everest, waiting to be climbed. Or perhaps you have already scaled it and wish to try again? All levels of intrepid “mountain climbers” are
welcome. We’ll have fun and learn a lot, too. Reading will never be the same. Required: Ulysses edited by H.W. Gabler; Vintage edition. Recommended: Ulysses Unbound, 3rd edition, by Terence Killeen.
