1970s TV

Course number : AE110
« back to classes page
The 1970s was the decade TV began to finally reflect what was going on in America. It introduced audiences to the bigotry of Archie Bunker, the fire-breathing liberalism of Maude, the light comedic side of feminism of Mary Richards, the sexuality of Suzanne Somers and “Charlie's Angels,” and the anti-war black comedy of M.A.S.H. The '70s also chronicled the horrors of the 1972 Summer Olympics in Munich, the downfall of Richard Nixon and the Watergate scandal. Each week there will be a combination of lecture and video clips from the decade.
