With a career stretching from the “silents” to Vista Vision and 3D and comprising over 50 films, Alfred Hitchcock decisively shaped the development of this new art form and became one of the most influential directors of the 20th century. We will view one film each week in class and analyze it with an eye to Hitchcock's development as an artist, his changing view of American society, and the development of film as an art form. Come prepared to be amazed, amused, frightened, and enlightened.
