In this hands-on class students will learn a variety of techniques for working with molten glass. Safety and terminology are emphasized, followed by understanding the roles and workflow of the team structure in the Hot Shop. Students will learn to make both blown vessels and solid sculptures. Proper attire is mandatory for working in the Hot Shop. Full length cotton pants, comfortable t-shirt or long sleeve shirt, and comfortable, closed-toed shoes. Please wear natural fibers (cotton) as synthetic fibers can melt near high temperatures. Please remove all jewelry. Closed toe shoes (not crocs) are required in the studios/labs. Enrollment is limited – register early!
