What is the definition of beauty? Is beauty an objective quality inherent in a work of art or is it a subjective response of the audience to the work of art? What is the definition of art? What determines our response to works of art? What is the role of art in society? We will review some of these fundamental concepts in the philosophy of art from ancient Greece throughout the history of art up until our times.
