The National Popular Vote and the Electoral College

Course number : LC100
« back to classes page
Americans elect all officials via popular vote, except two—the President and Vice President of the United States. How does the Electoral College work? What are its pros and cons? Many states are now enacting the National Popular Vote Compact as a way to guarantee that the candidate who receives the most votes nationally, wins the Presidency. It requires no change to the U.S. Constitution. What are its pros and cons? How would each of these systems affect our presidential election and our state? The issue is complex, but this presentation will clarify it all.
