HSTeens: Woodworking Basics with Hand and Machine Tools

In this course students will learn the basics of wood as a material, simple joinery, and the basics of reductive sculpting of wood. Using hand tools and machine tools, students will design and create a three legged stool. The stool will act as a surface that students can use to explore surface texture and form in an artistic/creative capacity. Basic wood finishing techniques will be taught. Students will use the drill press, band saw, hand tools, and more. All skill levels are welcome. All supplies are provided. Closed toe shoes (not crocs) are required in the studios/labs.
