This is a crash course in digital media as a tool in contemporary art. Students will be introduced to video and electronic imaging as a creative tool. Instruction emphasizes a basic introduction to media software including Adobe Premier, Adobe After Effects, Adobe Photoshop, and other free or inexpensive versions. After a basic introduction to the software, students will focus on deconstructing or subverting the typical uses of various software to create new images and videos. Final self-directed projects home in on the student’s personal objective through troubleshooting individual issues one-on-one and with the group. Students should leave the course with a completed piece of work, an image, or a video.
