Intro to Abstract Painting

Course number : PT117

« back to classes page

This course offers an inspiring introduction to abstract painting using primarily acrylic paints. Students will explore color mixing, layering, texture, composition, and mark-making while learning how to work intuitively and expressively. Through guided exercises and demonstrations, participants will experiment with a variety of tools and techniques to develop confidence, creativity, and a personal visual language. Emphasis is placed on process, exploration, and creative freedom rather than representation. This course is ideal for beginners as well as artists seeking to loosen up, discover new approaches, and expand their painting practice in a supportive and dynamic environment.

All supplies are included. Students are also welcome to bring tools of their own that they prefer to use when painting and mark-making.

Please note: The offering of Innovation Workshops is contingent upon meeting a minimum enrollment requirement. If the minimum enrollment is not met by the registration deadline, the College reserves the right to cancel the workshop. All enrolled participants will be notified at least two weeks prior to the first scheduled class regarding the status of the workshop.
