John D. MacDonald, was awarded the Grand Master Award by the Mystery Writers of America, their highest honor. His 21 Travis McGee novels are a successful mystery series not merely entertaining, but well written. Since MacDonald died in 1986, our examination of the books will provide both enjoyment and a window into the era in which they were written illustrated by the settings, plots, characters, and multi-novel character arcs. The reading list, one book per week, will be posted a week before the beginning of class.
