Course number : MA214

« back to classes page

One was the first to write for films?the Italian guy from Brooklyn. The other is the Jewish girl from Van Nuys—the last of the great Pop songwriters. Harry's songs included hits from the ‘30s to ‘50s and Diane’s from the ‘80s to 2000s. We will take a deep dive into their incredible repertoires that both contributed to the Great American Songbook and the New Great American Songbook. Is it true that singer-songwriters completely changed how hits were made? Absolutely! We will learn about those changes "from the pen to the hit" each week. If songwriting has intrigued you over the years and songs have had a special meaning?this is your class.
