Listening to Life: The Art and Practice of Journaling (OLLI)

Course number : PL136

« back to classes page

For centuries, journal keeping has served as both a practical tool and a profound spiritual discipline—a way of paying attention, clarifying thought, and encountering the meaning of one’s own experience. In this course, we will explore the practice of journaling not simply as record-keeping, but as a way of seeing, listening, and living more deliberately. Guided by the remarkable journal practices of Ralph Waldo Emerson and Henry David Thoreau, we will explore the practice of journal keeping and how it might be useful in today’s busy world. This is not a course in “good writing” but in attentive living. No prior journal experience is required—just curiosity and a willingness to observe and reflect.
