Course number : HS259

« back to classes page

Most of us have heard of Charlemagne, but what do we really know about him? He was a barbarian warlord who became “King of the Franks” and was crowned Holy Roman Emperor on Christmas Day in 800 A.D. In this class, we will discover how Charlemagne created an empire from the ruins of the Roman world and why historians call him “The Father of Europe.” You can thank Charlemagne for being able to read this course description, as it was under his reign that capital letters and spaces between words came into fashion!
